Advancing Your Understanding to Further Identify & Mitigate UNCONSCIOUS BIAS -- Feb 25 Online Workshop

Registration is closed for this event
Have you ever wondered why you think the way that you do? Have you ever wondered why you make some of the decisions that you make or say some of the things you say? As we become more aware of the importance of diversity, inclusion, and racial equity on the effectiveness of our organizations and communities, identifying, understanding, and processing some of your unconscious bias -- as leaders and professionals -- also becomes critically important.

The Performance Excellence Network is pleased to announce a powerful online workshop the morning of February 25: Advancing Your Understanding to Further Identify & Mitigate UNCONSCIOUS BIAS.  The workshop will be facilitated by Dr. Sandra Ogunremi, Manager of Spiritual Care Services, Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion at Monument Health, Rapid City.

This highly interactive workshop will help us discover our natural tendencies so that we can create, lead, and sustain environments that facilitate more inclusion and equity.  Ogunremi will share processes and tools to help us as leaders and professionals better mitigate our unconscious bias.

Workshop learning objectives include:

  • Advance understanding of biases and how we process information
  • Further identify the biases that we have
  • Advance understanding of the impact biases have on decision making
  • Increase building the knowledge necessary to move from awareness into action by becoming aware of our biases and mitigating them

Over the last year, we’ve all be made aware (or powerfully reminded) of the importance of diversity, inclusion, and racial equity within our organizations and their communities.  The imperative is clear: racial inequity sub-optimizes organizational performance and negatively impacts societal outcomes — not only for people of color, but for everyone.  But we all have different backgrounds and different world views that shape how we think, what we believe, and how we behave and make decisions.  Better understanding these unconscious biases helps us to make better decisions and be more inclusive.

The online workshop is Thursday, February 25 from 9:00-12:00 CT (8:00-11:00 MT).  Investment $200 for members ($175 for groups of 3-4 registering together, $150 for groups of 5+ registering together), $400 for non-members.

Most of us — as leaders, professionals, and just people — understand the importance of diversity, equity, and inclusion and realize that we need to make changes to improve our organizations and communities.  But change happens at an individual level, so come prepared to understand, identify, and address the unconscious biases we all have.
