Using Behavior Management to Improve & Change -- June 20 Bloomington Workshop

Registration is closed for this event
Decades of research show that the majority of improvement initiatives fail to meet performance expectations.  We believe this performance expectation disconnect occurs because (1 leadership is not effectively engaged in the change effort, and 2) the specific behavior changes desired are not clearly identified.  Fortunately, both can be systematically addressed.

The Performance Excellence Network is pleased to announce a special full-day workshop Thursday, June 20 in Bloomington: “Using Behavior Management to Accelerate and Sustain Process Improvement and Behavior Change.”  The workshop will be facilitated by Paul Fjelsta, a nationally recognized consultant and principal at accomplir®, Inc.

Behavioral Science defines behavior as “what we say or do.”  Typically, we see organizations speaking about behavior in a generalized manner.  As a result, they end up with “behavioral” clichés without defining specific leader and performer behaviors.  Paul has developed methodologies that integrate Behavioral Science into process improvement and technology deployment frameworks to 1) engage leaders in establishing their active involvement and accountability for sustaining behavior-change, and 2) identify and prioritize performer and leader desired behaviors.

This workshop takes a practitioner’s viewpoint, focusing on Behavioral Science concepts and selected tools applicable to both the attendee’s personal leadership behaviors and their process improvement projects.

Learning Objectives

Attendees will learn:

  • The essentials of Behavioral Management and the importance of consequences to sustain behavior
  • How to pinpoint their personal leadership behaviors
  • How to initiate their leadership behavior priorities by developing their own Leader Coaching Plan
  • The key Behavior Management tools within a process improvement project context

The workshop will be hosted by Normandale Community College in Bloomington.  Investment is $325 for members ($650 for non-members).  Discounts available for teams of three or more from the same organization registering at the same time: $300/person for teams of 3-4; $275/person for teams of 5+.
