The Neuroscience of Leadership: How Emotion and Stress Influence Leadership Decisions -- Aug 18 PEN Webinar

Registration is closed for this event
Traditional leadership development is focused on teaching leaders how to lead, but has few insights into Why People Follow. This serious flaw exacerbated the leadership failures brought by the COVID-19 pandemic.  The pandemic has changed the landscape of the leadership development industry. Outdated ideas and methods no longer apply during such a global crisis. Leadership skills based on personal experience, famous personalities and rare anecdotes have become irrelevant. * Why do people follow and trust the crowd? * How can leaders make people feel safe and valued? * Does leading with empathy work? Or is it counterproductive? * How does stress lead to irrational decision making?

The Performance Excellence Network — in partnership with the Wisconsin Center for Performance Excellence — is pleased to host an online webinar discussion on Thursday, Aug 18: “The Neuroscience of Leadership: How Emotion and Stress Influence Leadership Decisions.”  The discussion will be facilitated by Dr. Terry Wu, Consultant & Speaker.

Dr. Wu has built a new, scientific framework of leadership that is centered on Why People Follow. He applies a holistic approach to understanding our fundamental desire for safety and belonging. His research has uncovered many science-proven techniques and skills that empower leaders to make smart, impactful decisions. He demonstrates the intricate relationship between stress and leadership decision-making. By employing the Neuroscience of Leadership taught by Dr. Wu, leaders of all levels have seen more predictable and reliable outcomes.

In this science-based, content-rich discussion, you will gain insights into how emotion and stress influence leaders’ decisions to lead and followers’ decisions to follow. You will discover how chronic stress leads to many irrational decisions during the pandemic. You will understand the importance of reducing your followers’ stress. You will connect with your followers better and know how to avoid becoming an indifferent leader. You will uncover what truly motivates altruism. You will see the harm of chasing the latest leadership fads that are not supported by science.
